On December 11th our small town of Sumas was ravaged by what scientists are calling another "Historical Flood". The waters tore through our town and destroyed residents' homes, and local small businesses alike. We are very lucky to have had so much help from volunteers to clean up our cafe and be able to re-open our drive through for limited menu service.

As we step into 2026, we wanted to share an honest update on our progress toward bringing back full breakfast service and reopening our lobby. While these goals are at the heart of everything we’re doing, the road to recovery takes significant time and resources—both of which remain quite slim as we continue to rebuild. Since many of our neighbors and regulars were relocated following the flood, our daily foot traffic hasn't yet returned to its former pace, which directly impacts how quickly we can scale up our operations. ​Please know that we are pouring every bit of energy we have into this transition, and we are so grateful for those of you who continue to walk through our doors.
We are playing the long game because we want to do this right: when we finally do open those lobby doors, it won't just be "back to normal"—it will be a completely reimagined experience with a fresh look and feel. We are so excited for the day we can officially invite you all back in to gather, linger, and enjoy the new space together!
